Profile

Dede Fikry is a partner of the corporate M&A practice in Fikry Gunawan with over 14 years’ experience advising Indonesian and international corporate clients and private equity houses on foreign investments, joint ventures, mergers & acquisitions, and divestments in Indonesia. His practice covers a wide range of sectors, including real estate, healthcare, hospitality, consumer goods & retail, financial services, and technology, media & telecommunications.

Before co-founding Fikry Gunawan, Dede developed his career in the Indonesia associated-offices of major international law firms: Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy, Baker & McKenzie and Freehills, working alongside international team of lawyers in domestic and cross-border M&A transactions. In 2007, he took a year stint in the government as a member of the Indonesian President’s special staff for foreign affairs. He is knowledgeable of the Indonesian market and is versed in managing transactions in Indonesia.

  • Northstar Group in its investments into Indonesia-based online transport and logistics network provider Go-Jek.

  • Northstar Group in its investment into Indonesia-based business to business accommodation supplier.

  • Private equity houses and international corporates in their investments in the tower provider business and acquisition of tower assets in Indonesia.

  • The Soho Group in the tender of a majority investment in its subsidiary and the formation of a joint venture with German-based Fresenius Kabi.

  • A major international drug manufacturer in the formation of its first joint venture subsidiary in Indonesia.

  • Pantai Holdings in investment into the medical diagnosis business and the formation of a joint venture medical services company in Indonesia.

  • A private equity house in its investment into Indonesian medical device distribution business.

  • ITOCHU Corporation in its investments in the Karawang International Industrial City industrial estate and its joint venture with the Sinarmas Group.

  • Phoenix Property Investors in its investments in the Indonesian real estate development businesses and the formation of a joint venture with an Indonesian developer.

  • General Motors Corporation in the restructuring of its Indonesian subsidiaries in connection with a Chapter 11 filing.

  • A consortium of international port operators in its proposed investment into the Indonesian port business and the formation of a joint venture with Pelindo II.

  • PT Sigmantara Alfindo in the formation of joint venture companies with international partners in the bakery and confectionary businesses.

  • A private equity house on the review and restructuring of its investment in the Indonesian fitness industry. 

  • Indorama Ventures Limited in the acquisition of the Indonesian chemical manufacturers, SK Keris and SK Fiber.
